Energy aware probabilistic broadcasting for Mobile adhoc network Broadcasting is the primary procedure employed in Mobile ad hoc network for different kinds of functions like sending data and route discovery. Simple flooding is the direct method for broadcasting which can degrade the network performance. To resolve the broadcast storm issue which potentially leads to contention, collision and replicated messages, recently a new probabilistic approach has been proposed. In this paper we put forward this new probabilistic approach, namely Energy aware probabilistic broadcasting which ameliorates the network performance by decreasing the RREQ overhead in route discovery phase. In comparing the simulation results of AODV which employs blind flooding and fixed probability against the combination of AODV and the presented probabilistic broadcasting, the later has been found to reduce both overhead as well as the end to end delay.
